Diaper Bag Essentials

When preparing for a day out with your little one, a well-packed diaper bag can make all the difference. Being organized helps ensure you have everything needed for a smooth outing, whether it’s a quick trip to the grocery store or a day at the park. Here’s a comprehensive list of essentials to include in your diaper bag, so you’re ready for anything that comes your way!

Diapers and Wipes

This is kind of obvious in a diaper bag, but I feel like most care givers have been out and not had a diaper or wipes when they needed.

My go-to diapers have always been Kudos or Nora’s Nursery Cloth. Joonya is a second top choice.

My go-to wipes have always been Joonya. Kudos also has wipes, but I wish they would send more with their bundle subscription.

Wet Bag

Wet bags can come in handy is your baby has an accident or gets wet some how. It can be difficult sometimes to find a bag to put wet clothes in. A wet bag is crucial is you are using cloth diapers. Although I used cloth, when we went out, I would only use disposable diapers because it was easier.

Extra Clothes for Baby

I always keep 2-3 outfits for baby in our diaper bag. You never know what will happen when you’re out with a baby. Be sure to update clothes according to the season.

Extra Clothes for Momma

You’ll want to keep an entire outfit in the diaper bag for yourself because you never know when you’ll need it. Outfit I mean: shirt, pants, bra, undies, socks, everything you may need. I had to learn this one the hard way after a poopy blowout. Be sure to update clothes according to the season.

Nursing Cover and Baby Blanket

A nursing cover comes in handy when breastfeeding a nosey baby in public. Nothing is worse then walking around trying to nurse your baby and they just want to look around at everything around them. A baby blanket can come in handy too if it gets colder while out or if you walk in somewhere and it’s too cold for your little one inside. My favorite brand is Caden Lane.

Small hair brush and hair ties & clips

I hated being out in public and desperately needing a hair tie or claw clip. Keeping a small bag in the diaper bag with all these supplies in it.

Menstrual Materials

Everyone woman knows how terrible it is to be out and not have what you need during that time of the month. Even before having a baby and a diaper bag, I always kept a small period emergency kit with me.

I only ever use pads, so unfortunately I do not have a good option for other supplies. My go-to brand of pads are Rael and Cora.

Nipple Cream and Nursing Pads

As a nursing mother, you may experience cracked or sore nipples. A good nipple cream is important to help keep your nipples hydrated and smooth. Nursing pads also come in handy so you don’t leak milk through your top.

Butt Cream

A good, clean booty cream is important to keep on handy for your baby if they were to develop a diaper rash.

My top Butt Creams are: LemonGrass Healing Elements Balm, Breastmilk, Colloidal Silver, 100% Pure Grass-fed Tallow, and Pipette.

Sickness

Essential Oils: Lavender, Balance, Peppermint

Medications: Nature Profen Dr. Green Life Organics

Teething Drops: Camila Teething Relief, Earthly Teething Tamer

Teething Toys and Paci

A non-toxic teether is crucial for a teething baby. Cotton Craft and Itzy Ritzy are my favorite brands

Snacks for Momma

Now that I have a toddler, we share these snacks. Snacks I kept in the bag were: Simple Mills snacks, Unreal Chocolate Gems, Chomps Sticks. Other snacks I’d bring with us would be fruits or other homemade snacks that wouldn’t keep long sitting in the bag for the week.

Snacks for Baby

If your baby is at least six months old then they are able to have food other than breast milk or formula. A few good snacks for babies are: Once Upon A Farm Snacks: Puffs, Pouches, Granola Bars, and more or Skout Organic Granola Bars

Disposable Bibs for Eating

A disposable bib is convenient when out because after the meal, you don’t have to wash a dirty bib. You can just take it off and toss it in the trash.
