Postpartum Must Haves for Mom

I am so excited to share with you my top postpartum must-haves for moms. After navigating the ups and downs of postpartum recovery, I came across some amazing products that were total game-changers. I’m glad to pass on these recommendations and hopefully make life a litter easier for moms out there. All of these products can be found on Amazon or at Target and Walmart.

Frida Mom Disposable Underwear

I lived in these for months after having my son. They weren’t only convenient, but so comfortable. They have bikini style and boyshort style. Personally, I loved the boy shorts. I felt a little more secure in those, especially right after have a baby. If you know, you know.

Frida Mom Instant Ice Maxi Pads

These pads were the bomb diggity. Like a normal instant ice pack, you break the mold inside and shake and it instantly gets cold. These were SOO relieving on my lady area.

Peri Bottle

This is something you don’t necessarily need to buy because hospitals and most midwives give them to moms, but its good to have extra. I had the started one, but would have loved to have had the Frida Mom Upside Down Peri Bottle. Having one, no matter the style, is a necessity.

Frida Mom Perineal Cooling Pad Liners

These came in handy and gave a cooling effect on my downtown area.

Frida Mom Perineal Healing Foam

I loved this healing foam. It was nice and cool and gave a sense on relief.

Witch Hazel Pads

Witch Hazel pads, in my opinion, are a must. They help with itching, burning, and irritations. They can also help prevent hemorrhoids, which are very common after giving birth.

Pain Relief Spray

This was something I didn’t know I needed, and truthfully, I would have never used it if I didn’t get it for free. I ended up ordering two more bottles of Dermoplast because it was so great. I definitely recommend getting some. The only thing I would do differently is getting a cleaner brand like the Earth Mama.

Nursing Bras

You could wear a normal bra, if that’s more comfortable for you, but nursing bras in my opinion are super comfortable and extremely convenient to a nursing mom. The ones I wear are unpadded, no underwire, and super cozy. I bought one padded nursing bra that has underwire, but only wear it when absolutely needed. I bought them all from Target for cheap. I know I won’t be wearing these bras but for a few years, so buying an expensive nursing bra was not something I was willing to do.

Nursing Pads

Nursing pads are a must when nursing. When baby cries- you leak, when baby smiles- you leak, cooking dinner and you think about what your baby is doing- you leak. It’s unpreventable. Nursing pads are a must so you don’t leak on your shirt and have a huge, sticky wet stain on your boobs. I used the reusable kinds, but they do have options for disposables as well.

Nursing Pillow

As many benefits nursing you baby has, it begins to take a toll on your back and neck. When nursing your baby you can’t help but look down at them and smile. Nursing pillows also help prop baby up for better comfort.

Earth Mama Nipple Balm

Breastfeeding sometimes can be tough and your nipples can become dry and cracked. A soothing, baby safe (obviously) nipple balm is crucial to moisturizing nipples.

Nursing Tops

I LOVED my nursing shirts. I slept in my tank tops and wore my t-shirts right often. They were so comfortable and convent. Luckily I thrifted the few I had, so I didn’t pay much.

Frida Mom Delivery and Nursing Gown

I lived in the gown from the day I gave birth to even weeks after. It was washed, but I hate to admit that it wasn’t washed as much as it should have been. Moms are superwomen, but sometimes laundry just isn’t going to get done as often as we want.

Button Up Pjs and Tops

Button up tops come in handy with breastfeeding and when doing skin-to-skin.

House Shoes or Fuzzy Socks

Lots of times I wear fuzzy socks or slippers around my house. Definitely more in the winter than the summer, but my feet are always cold. I kept a pair of socks in the diaper caddy at all times.

LARGE Water Bottle

Large, I mean I got a huge RTIC water bottle that holds 1/2 a gallon. It’s so important to stay hydrated, especially if you are breastfeeding. I breastfed and was sooo thirsty all the time. I still get thirsty.

Snacks

I kept a basket of snacks by my bedside and ate a snack or two every night when I’d wake needing to feed my baby. It is crucial to eat and take care of yourself as a parent. MY favorite go to are homemade peanut butter protein balls. Keep an eye out for when I post my recipe to these!

Chocolate

This goes along with the snacks, but sometimes chocolate can be a little smoother and have a calming effect. At least for me it does. I personally like getting the Dove Chocolates because on the inside of the wrappers are inspirational and uplifting messages. They certainly aren’t a clean brand, but one here and there wont hurt anything. Besides its to help a new mom recover, right?

Oil Diffuser

I have always used essential oils. Be sure to do lots of research before using any for your babies. Lavender was on that I defused often, especially at night.

Non Toxic Hand Sanitizer or Hand Soap

A nontoxic hand sanitizer or unscented, nontoxic soap is important to have for guests to use when coming over to meet the baby. It’s important for people to be clean when holding your newborn.

Lip Balm

Nursing a baby takes a lot out of moms. One main thing is dehydration. When I am dehydrated, my lips become chapped. Have a good, nontoxic lip moisturizer on hand was perfect.

Reusable Bed Pads

A reusable bed pad is definitely a great precaution to take. I actually still use something similar when it’s that time of the month. Most every girlies know how frustrating it is to wake up in the morning to realize you’d bled through on your blankets. This, to me, is a must have. You could also use disposable puppy pads.

Rolling Cart or Bathroom Safe Basket

I kept a three tier rolling cart in my bathroom. I had a whole routine I did each time I went to the bathroom. It was so convenient having everything organized in my cart, ready to go. You could also use a medium sized basket to keep all of your necessities in.

It’s so important to take care of yourself after having a baby. I hope my post is able to reach all expecting moms struggling on knowing what they will need.
